1920's Art Deco Mermaid Decanter and Glasses by Bimini
Equisite decanter and glasses from Austrian glass manufacturer Bimini.
Established by Fritz Lampl in 1923, Bimini made very fine pieces in a style sometimes mistaken for Murano glass. However, Bimini glass is much lighter and more delicate than most Italian glass.
A poet and publisher before he started Bimini, Fritz Lampl took the name from a poem by Heinrich Heine dated 1852 which describes Bimini as a miracle island with the spring water of eternal youth.
Glass bowls supported by mermaid stems and the palest pink etched glass, as well as mermaid inside the decanter and on the stopper all make for a truly stunning set.
Remarkably, the set is in good condition with signs of age-related wear but no obvious damage.
